Özcan Deniz
Singer-songwriter, actor and film-maker — a defining multi-hyphenate voice of 1990s-2010s Turkish pop.
Özcan Deniz
Özcan Deniz was born on 19 May 1972 in Ankara, of Kurdish descent. He grew up in Aydın, moved to Istanbul in 1988 and then to Germany in 1998, where producers in Munich launched his professional music career. He is the nephew of traditional Kurdish singer Şakiro.
His early 1990s singles — “Ağlattın Beni”, “Hadi Hadi Meleğim”, “Beyaz Kelebeğim” — made him one of the most recognisable young voices in Türkiye. In the 2000s he expanded into acting, starring in landmark TV series Asmalı Konak (2002–03) and İstanbullu Gelin (2017–19), and directed/wrote the feature Ya Sonra? (2011).
Deniz’s concerts draw on a deep songbook that moves between melancholic ballads, Anatolian folk references and contemporary pop arrangements. His London date brings the full live band through signatures including “Aşkım Aşkım” and “Sevemez Kimse Seni.”
